Communication in the spectrum
Communication in the spectrum
The artwork "Communication on the Spectrum" combines precise craftsmanship with a profound message about the challenges of communication on the autism spectrum. The installation, measuring 21 x 15 cm, was digitally designed and laser cut, highlighting its sharp lines and fine details.
In a wooden display case, the work shows a stylized representation of a head with a visible brain, which symbolizes thoughts and inner experience. Opposite, wooden hands reach for colored ribbons on which a poem about the nuances of communication on the autism spectrum is printed. These ribbons wind through the composition to represent the difficulties and misunderstandings, but also the unique ways of communication.
The poem on the tapes speaks of clear but often misunderstood words, of the complex and individual nature of communication that lies within the spectrum. It illustrates how messages are shaped, twisted and often received differently than intended in the exchange between people. The hands trying to grasp these ribbons symbolize the effort to make a connection, grasp meaning, and understand communication.
"Communication on the Spectrum" is not only a work of art, but a moving commentary on the communication barriers and possibilities on the autism spectrum. It invites viewers to think about the way we speak and understand each other – and what it means to be truly heard.
This work of art will be exhibited from September 26th to October 13th in the historic town hall of Duderstadt. Shipping is only possible after October 16th.
