Use it or not

The artwork "Use it or not" consists of two artfully designed miniatures, which are framed in black, baroque-looking frames. Each of the works is about 13 cm high and combines nostalgic illustrations with modern, provocative messages in the form of speech bubbles.

The first depiction shows a woman in an old-fashioned white dress holding an anatomical heart in her hands. The sentence “You've got too much of it” hovers above her. This image symbolizes inner conflict and excess of emotions or heart that is perceived as too much. The depiction combines classical beauty with a modern, introspective message.

The second picture shows a cheerful woman with a teasing smile, also holding a heart in her hand. Hier lautet die Sprechblase: „I think you need a little bit of this“. This scene contrasts the first image by pointing out the lack or need for emotions, thereby creating an ironic note.

“Use it or not” plays with the tension between abundance and lack, between too much and too little heart, and encourages the viewer to think about how to deal with emotions and societal expectations. The ironic messages and nostalgic aesthetics create a unique connection between past and present that is both humorous and profound. This work challenges us to reflect on our own emotional balance and ask how much heart we really need.

This work of art will be exhibited from September 26th to October 13th in the historic town hall of Duderstadt. Shipping is only possible after October 16th.
